Antique Car Insurance Sulphur Louisiana

What kind of insurance do I need for my antique car?

Ted

Sulphur, LA.

Ted,

Newcomers to the collectibles market should be careful to research the best way to insure their vintage vehicles before they hit the road, according to the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.).

Antique and classic cars, defined as those built 30-plus years ago, have special needs that differ from traditional vehicles. Regular-use cars are on the road every day but antique and classic cars are typically used for limited pleasure driving, car shows and club events.

“Whether it’s a 1932 Alfa Romeo or a 1962 Ferrari, antique and classic car owners should purchase auto insurance coverage for their collectible separate and apart from the policy that covers their regular-use vehicle,” said Michael Barry, vice president, Media Relations at the I.I.I. “While regular-use vehicles depreciate in value over the years, many classic cars appreciate in value and have to be insured accordingly.”

As with a typical regular-use auto policy, an antique or classic car policy generally includes the following basic coverages: liability (bodily injury and property damage); collision; comprehensive; uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage; and medical payments or personal injury protection. Collision and comprehensive coverage are optional in most states.

Auto Insurance Kinder Louisiana

What automobiles have the highest theft rate?

Paul

Kinder, LA.

 Paul,

Encouraging news from the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB): Auto theft is on the decline. The annual report from the NICB on auto theft, “Hot Wheels 2008,” projects a decrease in the theft rate of 8.9 percent from 2006 to 2007. Final results will be released later in the year, but this first report certainly looks promising.

There was not much movement in the rankings; the top four models all held onto their positions and some of the other vehicles remained in the top 10 despite slight jockeying. The 1995 Honda Civic, 1991 Honda Accord, 1989 Toyota Camry, 1997 Ford F-150 Series Pickup, 1994 Chevrolet C/K 1500 pickup and 1994 Nissan Sentra all made back-to-back appearances on the most-stolen list, along with differing model years of the Dodge Ram Pickup and Acura Integra.

The new additions occupied the bottom of the list: the 2007 Toyota Corolla at No. 10 and the 1988 Toyota Pickup at No. 9.

Auto Insurance Lake Charles Louisiana

How do safe drivers ultimately affect your own car insurance?

Ted

Lake Charles,LA.

Ted,

When you live in a town with low accident and car-theft rates, you’ll pay relatively less for your car insurance. The Insurance Information Institute (III) publishes the most and least expensive cities in which to insure your car , which is a interesting in comparison  study. The most expensive cities for car insurance, according to III, are all either major cities (Los Angeles, Philadelphia) or urban areas surrounding a major city (Newark and Hempstead, N.Y.), with the notable exception of Detroit, which actually ranked first by a comfortable margin.

Cheap Auto Premiums Sulphur Louisiana

What are the best and worst states for auto insurance rates?

Carla

Sulphur LA.

Carla,

Any motorist who’s braved the traffic-choked streets of New York City, the breakneck pace of the New Jersey Turnpike, or the nearly out-of-control chaos of Interstate 95 will not be surprised to learn that the Northeast is home to four of the six most expensive states for auto insurance, according to figures from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. The number of claims filed, and how expensive those claims are, are the primary drivers for insurance prices.Average auto insurance premiums Show the average annual premiums in this state:

In 2005 nationwide (the latest figures available), the average annual combined premium was $949 (that includes liability, collision and comprehensive coverages).

Washington, D.C., ranks highest in the nation for combined average annual auto insurance rates: The latest figures show an average annual combined premium of $1,342.80. In the No. 2 spot is New Jersey, followed by New York, Louisiana, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Hope this question answers your question. You can also go to this website and answer a few questions and with a click of the mouse be able to compare  several rates.

SR22 Insurance Baton Rouge Louisiana

Will my employee auto insurance cover me if I get convicted of a DUI/DWI?

Ted

Baton Rouge, LA.

Ted,

Not all employers offer this type of auto insurance either and most of the major insurance carriers will likely drop you after your DUI conviction (or whenever they find out about the DUI on your driving record) as they don’t insure high risk policies.

The thing to remember about getting auto insurance after a DUI conviction is that there are no laws in effect that regulate the premiums that are charged. What this means is that each company is free to charge whatever prices they want in order to issue you one of these high risk SR22 insurance policies. Knowing this, the best thing you can do is to comparison shop and get quoted on as many policies as you possibly can before deciding on a particular insurance provider.

Interesting Question.
