I will be adding another driver under my auto insurance. I’d like to know, is it really more expensive if I add another driver? How will this affect the cheap auto insurance rate I have now? I am from Louisiana if that would help you.

Normally, adding another driver under your car insurance is more expensive thus it will affect the cheap auto insurance rate you have currently.

The reason for this is because your own auto insurance company is taking the risk to insure another person under your policy. Your insurance company will look at that driver’s record for the purpose of setting auto insurance rates for you. If that driver has poor driving record thus it will greatly affect your cheap auto insurance rate because once you’ve added him under your policy, your car insurance company will now insure a person who is deem to be riskier to be insured. Your insurance company must inform you if there are any changes on your auto insurance rate.

Let me just remind you that auto insurance companies rules and guidelines differ from each other. With this, I am not saying that adding another driver entails expensive auto insurance rates at all times. There may be some cases that even after adding another driver, a policyholder may not see a change on his or her auto insurance rate.

For clarification on this matter, I would suggest checking with your car insurance agent to know on how this would affect the cheap auto insurance rate you have at present.
